The villas are not immediately next door to each other, but are just 300-metres apart and easily reached via the estates’ private road. Bali’s most stellar beach area, the wide expanse of Petitenget Beach, is a mere five-minute walk away. A few more minutes’ walk brings you to the island’s most celebrated restaurants, including Ku De Ta, Metis, Mamasan and Sarong, as well as Seminyak’s many boutiques, lifestyle shops and spas. This fully staffed, four-bedroom multi-pavilion residence is distinguished by its heritage joglo – a centuries’ old, elaborately carved teakwood building that was once the home of a Javanese aristocrat and now forms a palatial open-plan living pavilion. The two master bedroom pavilions are just as generously proportioned, with deep verandas, den/libraries, air-conditioned bathrooms and tropical garden showers, while the two guest suites occupy a separate two-storey pavilion. Every impeccably decorated room features colonial-era furniture, oriental carpets, heirloom artefacts and curios, heritage posters and original art – animated by an experienced team that includes butlers and an accomplished chef.

Accommodation at Villa Des Indes I is spread across a series of pavilions encircling the well-established tropical garden. From the main entrance, steps lead across a large koi pond into the intricately carved antique teakwood joglo – the villa’s centrepiece. Across the lagoon pool that curves around this elegant living space lie two master bedroom bungalows. Tucked to one side of the garden, a two-storey building houses two guest suites. On the other side is another pavilion with guest bar, guest cloakroom and, behind, the kitchen and service area.

The Layout –
Accommodation at Des Indes Villa II is in five pavilions arranged around two swimming pools. The social heart of the villa is the huge open-sided living pavilion surrounded by a koi pond and facing a large balé across the main pool. Set into one corner is a two-storey building with seating area, bar, kitchen and guest washroom downstairs and, above, a bedroom suite with a private terrace. Next to this is a sleeping pavilion with two large bedroom suites opening onto the pool terrace. To the other side of the main living pavilion is a second sitting area, a small alfresco dining area and two further bedroom pavilions, which face each other across the second pool. A wall of plantation shutters allows these two bedrooms and the second pool to be discreetly closed off from the rest of the villa if extra privacy is sought.
