Lion Air
Since August 2019, Lion Air allows only a restricted amount of hand-carry luggage with no free baggage allowance. Lion Air charges for any amount of checked luggage. For example, on a flight from Yogyakarta to Jakarta (CGK) each kilogram of checked baggage would be charged Rp. 27,000. On a flight from Bali to Jakarta (HLP) the cost of checked baggage per kilogram is Rp. 43,000. Jakarta (CGK) to Balikpapan is charged at Rp. 49,000 per kilogram.

Passengers will enjoy a savings if they pre-pay for luggage at the time of purchasing their ticket online. The maximum amount of “pre-paid” luggage is 30 kilograms.

Wing Airs
Wing Airs (owned by Lion Air) also restricts hand luggage and has no free checked luggage allowance. The amount paid per kilogram for checked luggage varies, depending on the flight schedule, route selected, and the weight of the luggage.

Batik Air
A full-service airline, Batik Air provides a “free” baggage allowance of 20 kilograms for each ticket holder. Excess luggage beyond the 20 kilogram limit can be paid at check-in. Indicative excess baggage charges per kilogram: Jakarta to Yogyakarta Rp. 37,000; and Jakarta-Medan Rp. 73,000.

Indicative excess baggage charges per kilogram: Jakarta to Surabaya Rp. 35,000; Padang to Jakarta (HLP) Rp. 45,000; Semarang to Jakarta (HLP) Rp. 25,000; Medan to Jakarta Rp. 55,000.

Passengers on Garuda can pre-purchase excess luggage allowances at the time of booking or via the Airline’s website at a rate that is more economical than paying for excess luggage at the time of check-in.

Air Asia Indonesia
Air Asia Indonesia provides a “free” luggage allowance of 15 kilograms for domestic route ticket holders. Excess luggage over the routes Jakarta to Bali, Jakarta to Yogyakarta, Jakarta to Surabaya, and Bali to Bandung are all charged the a uniform rate: 20 kilograms Rp. 88,000; 25 kilograms Rp. 105,600; 30 kilograms Rp. 176,000; and 40 kilograms Rp. 308,000.

Sriwijaya Airlines
Effective March 2019, Sriwijaya reduced the amount of “free” luggage granted ticket holders from 20 kilograms to only 15 kilograms. On flights operated on ATR Aircraft the “free” baggage allowance was reduced from 15 kilograms to just 10 kilograms. The amount of carry-on luggage is strictly regulated.
